Expectations & study commitment

You are expected to:

  • Study for around 19 hours per week
  • Participate in the virtual discussions each week as per the requirements set out in each module
  • Submit your work on time
  • Communicate with fellow students and staff with respect and in a professional and timely fashion

Engagement and Participation

Students at the University of Lincoln have an obligation to engage in their studies as outlined in the Student Engagement and Participation Policy. You are encouraged to become familiar with the contents of this policy which require you to engage and participate in your learning, and the learning of your peers, by:

  1. Completing all scheduled learning, research and assessment activities
  2. Contributing to, and supporting others to contribute to, the academic exchange of ideas and interactions

For students undertaking exclusively online programmes, engagement and participation includes pro-active and regular engagement with OLFs and any other parties involved in programme delivery.

Each 15 credit module is equivalent to 150 hours of learning time, approximately 19 hours per week. Therefore, it is important that you organise and allocate time to engage with the module as it is designed. This includes your readings, micro-lectures, research and study, as well as engaging in your own learning and also the learning of your peers through interaction within the discussion boards.

OLFs have a role to support and guide you through your studies. They will engage in the discussions, respond to enquiries and provide formative and summative feedback. As such you should post in discussion boards and submit your assessments in a timely manner in order to take full advantage of feedback opportunities.

If you are having difficulties allocating time or fully engaging in your studies, you should contact your OLF or Student Success Co-ordinator for support and advice.
