Guidance for Technical Issues during Assignment Submission
We recognise that from time to time, students may encounter technical issues during the submission process of their assignments, in most cases these issues are simple and quick to fix. When faced with such challenges, it’s essential to know how to handle them efficiently and effectively.
This page offers guidance on how to handle common submission problems due to technical issues, ensuring that your academic work reaches your tutor on time and you are not penalised for late submission.
Turnitin or Blackboard Assignment
If you encounter a technical problem with a Turnitin or Blackboard Assignment while attempting to submit your work, kindly adhere to the guidelines provided below.
- Email a copy of your work including the module ID and assessment name to Digital Education at digitaleducation@lincoln.ac.uk, and also add the email address of your main module Tutor in the CC field.
- In this email, also provide a screenshot of the issue to help identify the problem.
- In most scenarios where the technical issue cannot quickly be resolved, Digital Education can submit your work on your behalf and acknowledge any technical issues to your tutor.
In order to reach an efficient resolution please ensure you provide the relevant information in your first email to digitaleducation@lincoln.ac.uk, as this reduces the need to go back and forth with responses.
Panopto Video Assignments
If you encounter issues with a Panopto Video Submission, kindly follow the guidelines outlined below.
- Email the web link to your video recording in Panopto and also provide the module ID and assessment name to Digital Education at digitaleducation@lincoln.ac.uk, and also add the email address of your main module Tutor in the CC field.

Blackboard Online MCQ Test or Exam
Your Blackboard Online Test should save your work automatically as you progress through your exam, and it should also auto-submit at the end of the time allowed to complete the questions.
- For issues with a Blackboard Online Test, such as you are unable to save your test, immediately email Digital Education digitaleducation@lincoln.ac.uk and your main Module Tutor with high priority.
- Provide the module ID, name of the test and details of the issue including screenshots of the issue.
- It is advisable to refrain from closing the test or restarting your laptop while the issue is being addressed; whilst in some technical issues restarting your computer can help, with an online Blackboard test this may cause more issues, therefore please leave the test open and active whilst you are experiencing the issue.
