Your lectures

What is a lecture?

Lectures are more formal information sessions which usually last 50 minutes and would normally take place in one of the main lecture theatres.

Different academic areas may take different approaches to how online lectures are delivered, so please check your module handbook for details.

Lecture essentials

  • Make sure you attend (even if you are busy, don’t understand the subject, or are too tired…)
  • Prepare by doing the reading & reviewing the slides/presentation ( this reduces notes you need to take)
  • Be prepared to ask questions, this is how you gain understanding
  • Make effective notes
  • Consider where you sit (it does have an impact)
